burden

i like the way Gulzar writes. many may differ on that, but i always like writing where there is room for intepretation.i like to read Gulzar because his poems somehow echo my sentiments exactly.
been through a lot of confusion...been looking for refuge..i wish i could silence the voices in my head and questions in my heart..found some solace in reading...spending time alone...

a poem from Gulzar's book " Silences"(what a perfect metaphor)

"silence is an echo of my voice..there is always an inherent silence in a poem.the poet hides behind that silence and yet he is loud enough to be echoed by those who share his heart beats....
i cant explain anything more about my poems than what a poem explains for itself.i think there is a feel about them.if i explain they will cease to be poems...."
- Gulzar

when my shoulders are bent,
saddled
with burdens
of life;
when i am tired,
so tired
(and when i think)i think,now - that now
my knees will give in,
a small little poem comes
and stands in front of me
holds my hands and says;
give me your burden,
come, give it to me,
my poet.
